A Source of Inspiration for your Soul

Deanna Cochran

Deanna Cochran, RN Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse, Medical Advocate, End of Life Doula

DeannaTrained as a nurse, Deanna since 2000 has served the dying and their families in various settings, mostly hospice. From the beginning of her career she had the belief and insight that palliative care would help people deal with their life-limiting illnesses far before hospice is considered. It was not acceptable to her that people were suffering for weeks, months and sometimes years with conditions that palliative care could handle within a few days of application within the hospice setting.
She founded Quality of Life Care in 2006 to educate and serve families who were suffering from the effects of their illness or treatments attempting to cure their illness. She has always believed that you do not have to be dying to be comfortable. Palliative care is appropriate whether you will recover or not. She is also very passionate about the days and hours leading to death and the tremendous support people need at this time.
She has been practicing as an end of life doula since 2006 and created “Accompanying the Dying; a Practical Guide and Awareness Training” for laypeople who desire to serve the dying and has been mentoring them since 2010. In January 2014, she founded the End of Life Professionals Collective, a community where end of life practitioners can collaborate in caring for and guiding families as well as where consumers can find assistance.
Since her mother's death in 2005, Deanna has dedicated her life to empowering people to live and die exactly as they wish – with as much comfort, peace and choice as is possible.
